To effectively understand and rank Tweets is a difficult task, but one which Google is up to undertaking. Interestingly, Google uses semantic (think contextual) technologies when indexing Tweets.
For example, Google not only analyzes the words in your Tweet, but also looks at the content in any links you may include. Google also looks at Tweets in relation to each other, and to broader web trends.
