First Date Movie for 20-year-old?
What would you suggest?
I'm editing out this piece from The Story Bodyguard. But, the question still holds.

I was out this afternoon. Standing in line at the deli was someone who acted like Elliot in True Romance. So the deli kid (20ish with a name badge that read Harley) and I sort of smiled at each other when the Elliot character left. I asked the deli service person if he had ever seen True Romance. He said no.
“Who’s in it?”
I start listing them off. “Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken, Val…”
“Would it be a good first date movie?”
This stopped me short because for me it would be a terrific first date movie. Then I thought about where we were: northern San Diego County where people don’t watch movies with subtitles.
“It depends on the girl,” I said thinking that this film might not meet beach bunny standards.
I found out that she was “kind of active.” I thought about them being 20 or so and thought OK I’ll give it a try.
“I know a really cute movie that’s fun and romantic and even sweet, Bread and Tulips. [Pane e Tulipani],but you have to read subtitles.”
“Subtitles!” He looked at me as though I were asking the impossible. OK, I gave it a shot. It didn’t fly.
I told him I would think about it and give him some suggestions next time I was in.
So, I’ve been thinking about it. My first date movie list—High Fidelity, Pane e Tulipani, True Romance, The Big Lebowski, Our Man in Havana, Der Himmel über Berlin, Amor Es Perros, Habla Con Ella—is not going to work. Wait, I forgot Mr. Hulot’s Holiday and Cocteau’s Beauty and the Beast.
So, all you hep cat story lovers, I am asking for your help. *What films would you recommend for 20-somethings on a first date?*
Harley is waiting for suggestions._
