There are many facets to Stephen Hawking, the end of mankind and the idea of Artificial intelligence, that it would require many threads to flush it all out. The most important idea involves natural constants of our universe.
ReplyDeleteThere is a big misunderstanding in our world. It is a natural constant just as valid as pi, e or phi that the methods we use to arrive at a new level of evolution influence how that level of evolution then behaves. (Simplifying the idea a great deal.)
That's why I continually write: The ends DO NOT justify their means, rather the ends are inextricably tied to them.
I also often write that we arrive at technologies too soon and wrongly, because our scientists have no basic regard for ethics and morals. Yet it is these very same concepts that compose and remain our navigation system throughout our evolution!
For these reasons (and a few more), we should rightly fear what we create. If we were to observe our morals and ethics, even animals would no longer be used as test objects.
