Up until two years ago, I had a magic closet. Girlfriends would borrow just the right item for a dinner out, a night at the yacht club, or a cocktail party.

I downsized the closet when I moved almost two years ago. My jacket and coat collection serves well not only on trips to Europe but everyday wear in Oregon. Life is very casual here and so is dressing.

I have forsaken my purse collection as well and in true Oregonian style my backpack goes with me everywhere. Water, bee sting kit, earplugs for movies, reading glasses, the heart medication I hope I never have to use, wallet, cosmetics, pens, notebook, cosmetics lite all in one place and I'm out the door.
