Childhood Memory
Many positive childhood memories, especially with at my Grandmother's where I lived the first two years of my life.
Early, early. Being awakened from my nap (!!!!) in the crib by my Aunt. She had a surprise. She opened the door and two Cocker Spaniel puppies bounded in. Candy, white with tan spots, and Taffy, you guess what color.
My Dad loved to go camping. When my younger sister was old enough to go without my Mom who did not like camping, we took off.
My Dad would drive until it was time to "make camp" often by the side of the road. We cooked over a campfire. My sister and I slept in the car; she in the front seat, myself in the back. My Dad slept on his cot in a sleeping bag, next to the car.
We went on just about every back road in California, many of them dirt at the time. Most memorable to this day was going to Glass Mountain. I was astounded at the "glass rocks."
Wonderful adventures filled with porcupines, bears, skunks, and wasps. :)

Zara Altair fun memories!
ReplyDeleteJim Sharp Yes. Still love travelling.
ReplyDeleteZara Altair yes, traveling is good for the soul. Gives so many different perspectives on life.
ReplyDeleteJim Sharp Yes, it does. I love getting a "sense" of a place.
ReplyDeleteLike your "day late and a dollar short" as I heard my Dad say to me so many times. Another of his favorite quotes - "if you tell the truth you don't have to remember what you said." Thanks for reminding me Zara Altair
ReplyDeleteJim Sharp Thanks. Telling the truth keeps life simple. :)
