Fluff Not, Nor Too Heavy Be

Fluff Not, Nor Too Heavy Be
Day 12 #28DaysofSEO

Getting your website fine-tuned from the beginning is hard enough. Fixing and redesigning is hard work.

User experience (UX) is a growing factor for search quality. Make it easy for visitors to find what they need. Make it fast. Make it simple. Fluff not.

Guidelines for search engine quality:

   * Uptime - Hosting makes a difference. Choose a hosting platform with little or near-zero downtime.
   * Load Speed - The faster the better. Fast is mobile friendly. Fast helps Google rank your site.
   * Use large, high quality images - Optimise for fast viewing.
   * Break up large blocks of text - Think chunking. Subheadings and bullets help draw the reader eye.
   * No large ads - Put ads on a separate page. Large ads on your main pages is something search engines don’t like. Even small ads that break up article text don’t work for search.
   * No banner ads - Banner ads decrease visitor experience.
   * Create pages that work - Don’t make your visitors work to get what they want from you. Make it easy.
   * Quality Mobile Experience - Google uses mobile as a ranking signal. Responsive design or a separate mobile site are two ways to create quality user experience. Pick one method. Do it well.

All of these actions work together to create a quality visitor experience and improve search results.

User experience and search quality work hand-in-hand.
