How to Build Data Awareness
Day 26 #28daysofseo
Be yourself and experiment.
To be transparent on the web means that the data you create—content, visuals, videos, flip boards, etc.—gives search real data about your business. From your physical address that is information about where you are to client testimonials that verify the value of your business, the more search sees you, the better search can bring you up as a reliable source when others search for what you have.
The more easily search can find you the more likely you will come up in search queries.
Be constantly aware that the 4Vs (Day 24) impact everything you do.
* Volume - how much you create
* Velocity - how quickly it is spread
* Variety - different people interact, blogs about it, retirees
* Veracity - truth. Back to Expertise, Authority, Trust (See Day 17)
They are important for:
* your interactions on the web - what you search for creates a history of data points
* how the data (everything) you create gets noticed
Try different formats—visual, slide share, video, written word— and long enough to see if it makes an impact. If you make one video it does add to the overall accumulated data about you. But, if there is only one, you cannot determine if video makes an impact on your web presence.
Be willing to experiment. You may discover that a different format appeals directly to your target market.
Tools like Google Analytics and NOD3x will help you determine what works best for you.
Keep in mind that at times your most popular content may not directly reach your target market but that it does expand your reach.
