RIP Dan Fredinburg
Today we lost one of the great ones far too soon. Dan was a true adventurer at heart and died doing what he loved. He did as much as anyone I know to bring the amazing far-off reaches of the planet to all of us. The world feels a little less exciting now without him in it.
I was always inspired by his optimism, passion, love for exploring, and commitment to make the world a better place. My conversations and brainstorms with Dan were some of the most fun ones I've had at Google. You won't meet many people like him.
I got to know Dan when I worked with him on the Google Street View Trekker program. If you've explored our Street View panoramas of the world's highest peaks, you can say "Thanks Dan". #thanksdan
Next time you're enjoying the great outdoors, gazing upon the infinite expanse of mountains and valleys and the impossible beauty of Mother Nature, please think of Dan.
To Dan's family, my thoughts are with you. He was an excellent human being and the world is truly better because of him. Thank you.
