When I compile the book TOC is picking up the first line of one chapter and including it (complete with space below title) in the TOC. This looks so not professional.
Any hints on how to eliminate this line from the TOC?
I've reset the title as title and the first paragraph as my narrative fiction style. To no avail.
Thanks in advance.

Are you including your chapter or scene document titles? Is that the title (in the Binder) of either the chapter folder or the first scene?
ReplyDeleteGwen Hernandez Title of scene.
ReplyDeleteGwen Hernandez Any hints?
ReplyDeleteSo, is your scene title in the Binder the first line of the scene document? That's pretty common on imported docs. You might check and make sure the title isn't really long. I've had clients who copied and pasted titles into the Binder and didn't realize they were bringing in a paragraph return and double-entering the name and all sorts of weirdness. If you double-click the document title in the Binder and then use your right arrow to scroll over, you can see if there are any unexpected characters in there. For more help, I'd need some screenshots.
ReplyDeleteGwen Hernandez Short title. I'll go check now for unexpected characters.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I can't comment on the photo that you have posted. The TOC does not take the title from the text of your document, it takes it from the name of the document or folder, depending on your settings. I would delete and re-enter these titles, to ensure that there are no non-printing characters.
ReplyDeletePD Workman Thanks. As you can see in the photo, the title, with no extras, is entered correctly in the binder. Just as it is for all the other chapters.
