Data alone is never enough
Insights are never gained by data (contrary to what people think when they call me for Analytics help). Insights are gained by learning to formulate questions, hypotheses, to test them and record/review the results.
The data, by itself, is nothing more than a Rorschach Test, enabling you to project upon its line graphics, bar charts, and datasets your mood of the moment, while also giving you potentially misleading ideas. Not misleading because the data itself lied, but because you lied to yourself about the data.
As my friend Ronell Smith writes so eloquently, you need to find the hidden context behind the data to arrive at those insights.
