I just got off a call with Google. During the call I asked what he thought about the new G+. The response was"It is more intuitive and faster".

I then asked what about the missing elements from Pages and Profiles?

His response was "Google has not rolled out all the functionality yet, we can expect quite a few features to make it back into the new design - especially for local pages." He also encouraged users to provide feedback!

So plus on my friends!

All, A few clarifications that should be useful:
1. Please look for the Let's GO button to appear on Classic G+ to try out the new preview. "Forcing" the new experience in other ways won't give you all the new updates.
2. This is a preview release and yes not everything is there.
3. We're doing regular launches fixing things/adding features etc. So you should see the preview improve as we go.
4. During this time the Classic G+ experience is available and you can switch between the 2 as you please.
