EU Commission Pursues a "Snippet Tax" That Would Hurt Publishers and Us All
You can send input to the Commission. See below.

The idea would require Google and other search engines to pay for the "neighbouring right" of showing a snippet and link to a publisher's content. This is supposed to benefit publishers, who would be receiving the tax money. However, similar legislation in Spain and Germany already proved it would harm publishers with a drastic loss of visibility and site traffic.

The sharing economy we currently live in is a new paradigm facilitated by the Internet in general, and specifically by one small but powerful device: the hyperlink. Further, the ability to share content efficiently is foundational to  #contentmarketing  and #SEO .

The EU Commission is taking comments from the public until June 15. Anyone can respond to the consultation, even from outside Europe. If you want to respond, you can fill out the questionnaire here: https://goo.gl/AoPP8e
