Attitude Contributes

Attitude Contributes
H/T Oleg Moskalensky
The four most powerful words coming from a new hire are: “I’ll figure it out.” Find someone who you can trust to say that and follow through on it, and you’ve found a true asset.

For many people looking to hire these words may not be reassuring, but they are the words that indicate a spirit of contribution.

A great read.

  1. Thanks for sharing, Zara Altair.  The author makes essentially the same point you and I did yesterday, so very timely article here.

This doesn't mean that companies should be hiring someone who has no clue, but great attitude... Sometimes the learning curve is too long for what a company needs, so both need to be present for maximum value, but still the skills without the right attitude will spell doom at some point, so attitude is of more importance here.

  2. Oleg Moskalensky In the article there is mention of the importance of intelligence as well as attitude. I liked the discussion about "achievers" vs. "I'll figure it out" attitudes.

  3. You should read A Message To Garcia, penned in 1899: http://www.benning.army.mil/infantry/199th/ocs/content/pdf/Message%20to%20Garcia.pdf

I gave an original copy of this to my partners when they joined me.
