I was surprised and delighted with a 5 star review.
When I started reading the story - it was a little difficult, partially because I'm not native, but mostly due to the variety of old world names, but very quickly I got adjusted to them and was thrown into the old world. The author did a great job with immersing the reader into that world, introducing the various players, their lives, their attitudes, their politics... yes, this book certainly has politics of the day playing a major role. The story itself almost takes a back seat to the environment, the people and what transpires in fairly short amount of time.
The book itself is pretty short, and you get a feeling that you're getting a small glimpse of a much different time, much different world and you want to hear the rest. Like this book is a tiny part of a much bigger story.
I hope the author continues to release many more similar books... I'm certainly looking forward to reading them.
