'Step Up' Is YouTube Red's First Big Budget TV Series
YouTube Red, the premium subscription version of Google's YouTube, has acquired the rights to its first big budget TV series: Step Up.
Based on the dance movie starring Channing Tatum, the series shows if nothing else that the new service intends to compete with Netflix, HBO Go, Hulu, and other similar over-the-top services in the area of original TV shows.
That said, it is hardly a Game Of Thrones or House of Cards, and thus we can only hope that it is just the first of many to come and not something the company is banking too much on to appeal to those unsure if the service is worth it.
