RankBrain and SEO

RankBrain and SEO
In the traditional SEO sense, there's not much you can do for RankBrain.

Rand Fishkin outlines some tweaks for your website.

For all of these queries you should not have one URL and another URL and another URL and another URL. You should have one page targeting all of them, targeting all the intents that are like this."

Omi Sido talked about this in our interview https://goo.gl/qWSJ3W in May, 2016.

Can you really "optimize" for Google Rankbrain?

In our opinion, no, not really. It's not like Penguin or Panda or other types of algos/updates that have clearcut tactics. But, it may still shift some of your approaches to SEO, and that's what this week's episode is all about.

  1. We were the first ones to talk seriously about #RankBrain  ;-)

And Rand Fishkin didn't even mention our interview.... ;-)

  2. There is a way to optimise for RankBrain but it's not particularly obvious.

It's nothing like traditional SEO or even semantic optimisation per se. I believe that it relates to writing unique content combinations that the Googlebots have never seen before.

There are tools such as CISE Wordplay that provide unique ideas that we believe influences RankBrain ranking. Testing this was quite easy seeing we had a tool that produces ideas that are likely to be considered unique and have nothing to do with any other form of ranking.

People have quickly forgotten that Google has clearly stated that it is a ranking factor. It's embedded in the name and according to the #horsesmouth it is evidently third in their pecking order

IMO The latest SERPS turbulence had little to do with Penguin 4.0 update unless you're a closet #blackhatter. I believe it was a core algorithm shift that rewards uniquely crafted content far more clearly.
