Writing from the Heart

Writing from the Heart

Gideon Rosenblatt poses a question on delving into your heart when writing for the public.

Why is it so hard to write from the heart rather than from our ego?

  1. Well Zara Altair I consider writing that is centred around core meanings and core values as a means to writing and serving the public more effectively and when that occurs the ego is nowhere to be seen.

This methodology is a form of giving even if it isn't in the traditional sense. We serve our clients and their customers by providing high quality material that they will immediately benefit from

  3. I just came from Gideon Rosenblatt's post and leaving (a longish) comment there. It's really very beautiful to be thinking about writing from the heart. I love that he wrote that.

  4. Zara Altair Yes I definitely do appreciate what Gideon Rosenblatt is conveying. I'm just saying core values are the way forward to resolving the dilemma

  5. Gina Fiedel It is beautiful. I've been thinking about this because I have no problem with video--it's straight from me. My author blogs come straight from the heart. But, business for the public writing is harder for me.

  6. Thanks so much, Zara Altair. And thank you too, Gina Fiedel.

I haven't yet seen your other comment, Gina, and will have to wait until morning before I do at this point.

Zara, I know what you're talking about. Doing this writing from the heart is much easier with certain types of ideas. Business and technology writing is much tougher. One of the things that I will be continuing to work on is integrating heart and mind. I mean a real, nitty-gritty process for doing that.

  7. Zara Altair is it business writing for your own business or others that is harder? Just curious because I imagine it would make a difference even if it's a small one.

  8. Gideon Rosenblatt Business and technology writing challenges the heart. I have written pieces that I felt were from the heart, but interestingly enough, aren't read as widely as the "just the facts" pieces. I'll be following along on your nitty-gritty process. To me, you are a shining example of doing this well.

  9. Zara Altair- It just occurred to me that we're asking you about this discrepancy between your video work and your writing work and I realize there's something else to ask. I wonder if it's simply not something you're interested in or compelled to pursue - which, of course, would be absolutely beyond fine. Or do you wish you had more of a heart connection in your business writing?
