If you thought I was kidding, I can assure you I am not. Water (which we need to stay alive) is a substance that exists as solid, liquid and gas. That means that it is incredibly good at storing up energy (i.e. heat) and shedding it as it undergoes its phase (and energy transitions).
It strange behavior however does not end there. Add water to a tightly confined space like a nanocavity (i.e. a nanotube) and the moment you play with pressure the weirdness factor amps up: https://goo.gl/CvF9c5. #Monday ;)
