Jeff Bond Haha! No I have something special planned for him involving slimy water and a coral snake. :)
ReplyDeleteJeff Bond Yeah. :)
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteI see your back Zara Altair & in one piece too lol
ReplyDeleteHow was it?
Justin Case It was fabulous. So full of serendipitous moments I'm still in awe. The archeological site is impressive. Mosquitoes were on holiday in the main. Saw no snakes, but a lizard crossed my path one evening. Meeting the people in the Mayan community was filled with warmth, and open communication even with language barriers. A truly memorable experience.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Zara Altair Nothing quite like an incident free excursion.
ReplyDeleteI have a step brother who traveled around the world after graduating university. Martin & 3 other friends left for South America in a jeep full of gear & high hopes of exploration until they met up with the Gorilla's of Guatemala in Central America who stole their ride & gear leaving them on the light side for the rest of the trip. That was how it began. In Africa they all caught malaria & in climbing Mt. Everest Tibet led to the loss of several members of the expedition in an avalanche. None of them suffered that fate thankfully, but it was the last straw for the others. They had enough & returned home. It was in India on his own where Martin really ran into serious trouble. Someone hit him while walking on the road with a car while traveling to Delhi & there he laid for days on the side of the road left for dead until someone found him there & took him in to nurse him back to health. We didn't hear from him for months & was sure something dreadful happened.
Once he returned back home to Canada & told the tales, you could tell he had changed. Who wouldn't have? To this day he has a deep humbling respect for all people & life. It was a lesson for us all.
That's what I call an adventure of a lifetime (literally)
Justin Case Wow! Those are adventures for the young. :) We did have an incident on arrival in Mexico. My traveling partner/book author couldn't find her passport. She was about to be deported when all resolved.
