Google Maps and Instant Sharing

Google Maps and Instant Sharing
Google already tracks your location. Now you can share where you are.
As David Amerland states, this offers benefits to business.
Where you are from a personal perspective is up to you.

Real-Time Location Sharing With Google Maps

Yesterday, Google announced that Google Maps allow now real-time location sharing: https://goo.gl/vAwpWF. There are many pros to this: it allows businesses to determine popular times, you can share traffic data, you can share favorite businesses and trips. Data can flow frictionlessly in real-time.

It's not a new idea. Google first had it in 2009: https://goo.gl/JHsRVO when smartphones were barely around and then were barely able to handle anything beyond a few Kbs of data. This WIRED piece: https://goo.gl/EGJwQG explains some of the implication of this and the functionality.

  3. Zara Altair From my side of the world and passions Zara. There is also an app for horse riders. Some stated it worked really well, tracking into off paths areas. My boy is lame, so I have not downloaded the app, looking forward to it.
REmembering when a person first stated to me, I was the first person to ever call them while riding on a horse, that was 16 years ago.... Geee how we have come with AI etc.........
    Thanks Zara

  4. This is not Google Maps. These screenshots are from IPhone app Find Friends.

In fact, users were able to share location data long time ago on Google Plus. Google removed that feature later on.
