The new Google algorithm allows you to compress JPEG files by 35%

Google works with huge amounts of data, so it's in its best interest that they take up as little space as possible, without losing quality. This saves space on servers, as well as more quickly process these same data. In 2014, the company introduced the image compression format WebP, which allowed to reduce the size of images by 10%. This week Google introduced Guetzli, an open source algorithm that compresses JPEG files by 35%.
