How To Communicate With Writing Clients

How To Communicate With Writing Clients

Completely amazed the other day to get an email with a title somewhat akin to How to make it through the dreaded client meeting.
Prompted this article.
I realized there are writers who dread talking to clients.
I'm just the other way. If we talk, they're mine. :) No more emailing back and forth. For me, talking cuts to the chase. In my mind, it's the best way to weed out people whom I don't want as clients.

  1. Yeah, I'm sort of in the other bracket, Zara Altair…
…which probably explains why I've sent off 54 applications to rejoin the rat race in just two weeks.

It's taken me five years to figure out I don't actually enjoy freelancing. Write about it, for sure. But raise invoices, pitch clients and justify the time I've spent on every task? Ick!

That's such a good article and the first line nails it, for me.

Got to go out - to an interview, believe it or not? - but will catch up after my diploma lesson tonight. Thanks, beaut ♥

  3. Second interview Wednesday afternoon, Zara Altair. So good of you to ask.

The position is a content marketing editor at a global publishing firm in Birmingham.

They have 400 staff, the majority of whom are in Dubai. From what I can gather, my role will be to edit the content coming from India. Big job.

The interview's for 1½ hours, covering competence and technical knowledge.

Right now, I'm going back through my Shaw Academy diploma content to refresh my memory of the aspects of digital marketing that I know, but don't use regularly.

Incidentally, the company publish content in the IT, Web and App design and Big Data sectors.

I've downloaded "Learning Typescript" to get my head around some of the elements of coding. Phew - how do coders get out of bed in the morning?

And you, dear? How are you?

  4. Jason Darrell Congratulations. That should be a BIG editing job.

OMG! Coding. This is somehow related to editing?

I'll be thinking of you on Wednesday. Lighting candles, invoking appropriate gods and goddesses, etc.

I'm busy with the ghostwriting project. Client keeps changing the storyline. 😞 Rewrites, adding, rewriting, and deleting scenes. It's still a fun project, though.

    So far, health is good.

Let me know the results of the interview.
