Kinda Sorta Is Not Enough for your Website
I'm working with a business client whose website developers keep telling him the site is ready. It's not.
Important pages are missing from the site menu, e.g. the Home Page
The "Demo" pages for the software are not integrated, so demo visitors cannot experience full functionality. (Pity the poor sales team.)
Legal documentation like Terms of Service and Privacy are in the head menu when they could be made available in the footer, keeping the menu focused on leading the user through the site experience.
Annoyingly, there are other small details.
Don't waste your content writer's time asking for content for a new site that is not ready. Make certain your pages lead your potential customer through the purchase journey clearly. Debug your demo. Fill it out fully. Don't expect your writer to test the site in order to create content and then discover that the website is not working.
'Nuff said.

The cart never goes before the horse ...how come they don't know that Zara Altair
ReplyDeleteRon Serina It happens. More than you would think. The business owner is anxious to get the website up and running. The website development team may not be as experienced or knowledgeable as they have told the business owner.
ReplyDeleteThat's why even though things like this seem self-evident to us, they need to be stated. So many small business owners don't know enough to make wise selections.
