Share your real-time location with others
Sometimes it's helpful to let people know where you are, and now you can do it directly from Google Maps AND your phone.
You can choose WHO to share your location with (individual people or (surprise surprise) your Google+ circles...
WHERE - whether you want them to know exactly where you are, or just the area (city) you're in, and for HOW LONG you'd like them to have access to your location.
This is great for the times you go out at night, and want someone to know you made it home ok...
Or
If you're about to meet and want to know how far your friends are from the meeting location...
Or
You're traveling to another city and want to host to know when you'll reach your destination (Uber style)...
Or
for parents who want to keep an eye on their kids' whereabouts (granted, a savvy kid could turn it off, but then the savvy parent would know how to handle that ;)
I like the fact that by default your location is shared for one hour, and you need to make a conscience choice to share it until you turn the feature off.
I also like the fact that it's connected to your phone, which you always have on you.
The only thing is - you have to remember to enable it before you think you'll need it... and most of us won't remember to do that.
