When Algorithms Go Wrong
What is LinkedIn doing with its algorithms? My writer profile is offering me a Top Doctor badge (for free) to add to my profile. How does this relate to 40+ years of writing? I'm baffled.
This is not a trust building activity. :)

Dr Zara Altair sounds very distinguished to me, Zara Altair. Don't feel bad, I have over 3 decades of IT and I'm being offered, based on my resume as they say, an opportunity to run my own insurance agency.

ReplyDeleteI don't know if I'd say trust, but certainly major flaws with their AI... no different than most others these days. There are lots of people working on AI and thus pushing it... and lots of experts who stumble over each other talking about how it's taking over the world blah blah blah... but in reality - it's a not even half-baked approach and even though it has potential - it's not unlike humans - some advancements in the last 2000 years... but at the same time - major evolutionary disappointment and these are the same folks trying to 'teach' a piece of plastic/metal how to think like them ;)

ReplyDeleteFor me it is a trust issue. Something like this badge along with LinkedIn suggestions of off the mark jobs I might like, tells me that the proposed service is not working. Why would/should I trust LinkedIn to connect me to the right people and work opportunities? So far, they've failed so miserably, it's laughable.
