Adelheid Hörnlein I am confused by your answer. Theodoric/Theoderic/Teodorico built this chapel, originally called Christ the Redeemer, as part of the grand palace modeled on the Emperor's palace in Constantinople. What is the other you mention? Do you mean Sant'Apollinare in Classe where the Bishop with his flock brings tears to my eyes built after Theodoric/Theoderic/Teodorico's death?
The mosaic of the Three Kings with its sparkling goldy, gold is one of the most amazing things I have seen.
Zara Altair I guess I mean the little chapel of Theodora in Ravenna, I think it was the name. But, no, I looked it up now: it is Galla Placida and there is the Mausoleum of Theoderic, too, but I meant the chapel right beside San Vitale. Sorry for the confusion. I am not good in remembering names.
Now we Know Who Trump thinks he is ...
ReplyDeleteThanks Zara Altair

I love these mosaics in Ravenna! I was there at least 4 times. And this church is maybe the most impressive of all Zara Altair
ReplyDeleteAdelheid Hörnlein Teodorico's chapel. :)
ReplyDeleteZara Altair sure, but they have totally different dimesnions and impressions. Awesome, totally, both - and also many other places less known
