We recently announced the acceleration of the G+ sunset for consumers. The sunset is now scheduled to take place in April 2019, and over the coming months we will provide users with information to help them migrate off of G+.

Users interested in preserving their G+ data should follow the instructions on our Google+ Help Page.

  1. Zara Altair I checked out the help page. There's no info on how to extract data. It covers other topics.

One item of worry is the shutdown of all APIs within 90 days. I have a hunch the only viable extraction tools are APIs which underscores the need to extra content quickly.

  2. Friends+Me has been keeping us up to date on an Exporter they created. I have only executed the first step because they keep updating it, but from what I've read about it, it seems to me to be a perfect solution.

I downloaded all of my posts and comments from both my public posts, collections and any communities that I owned using the Friends+Me app. Had to go for the paid option because I had more that 3,000 posts.

Looks good but haven't imported yet. The Google tool gave me a very incomplete set and is as buggy as it could get.

  5. Peter Hatherley Yeah, I exported mine a week or so ago with no problem as well. And I also purchased the option for over 3000 posts because I needed it also, but thankfully, it's very reasonable. I'll be redoing the export though because they have updated the software several times since then. Hopefully, the import will be as smooth as the Export. I can't see a reason to try Takeout.
