Honoured to be Zapped again by Mick Sharpe in Friday Favourites. Thanks to my fantastic guest Alexandra Riecke-Gonzales.
Again a great line up and an entire weekend to catch up.
Love Ammon Johns' concept. Definitely a show worth watching and there's more this weekend.

Ammonized!
I was struck by the sheer volume of good advice coming from all quarters this week but particularly so in the new HOA from Ammon Johns & Company Ammonize (http://goo.gl/n2mtOf) Ammon Johns promises to share his unique approach to marketing with the unusual twist that every other show will be an actual live consultation. Yes an hour of detailed, actionable, expert consulting with a real business! This pilot episode is one such consultation and Ammon is joined by that font of financial knowledge Stephanie Sims to offer advice to Donald Brant as he develops his Energy Saving Clothes Drying Cabinet. Kudos to Ammon for coming up with this fantastic format in the first place and also for the pearls of wisdom and lashings of common sense. Almost every entrepreneur will get something out of this show. I can’t wait to see where this goes.
Stephanie was back again in Jason T. Wiser’s latest #OnTrackTips show Budget your Finances without being a Human Calculator (http://goo.gl/A2JEk8) Always a packed 30 minutes this show is a must for those small businesses struggling with, or needing some guidance on, their business finances. Everything from separating your business and personal finances to using the envelope system and managing staff spending, Jason T. Wiser has provided the ever useful #timestanp version here (http://goo.gl/A1VxW7)
You can never have too much #infotainment in my books and there’s no better than the The Mia Connect Power Chat Adventure Episode! (http://goo.gl/q7U477). Mia Voss knows how to mix it up and in this episode showcases some opportunities for adventure including international wine tasting tours from Winerist, food crawls with All The Tastes Of New York, Breaking Bad RV Tours (yes really) and accessible adventures from Jeanne Allen who is creating an accessible travel guide. As usual the #BatCrapCrazy List #timestamped post here (http://goo.gl/JfQYQU)
Common Sense Wednesday
Carrying on with the common sense theme that seemed to permeate proceedings this week we have the excellent Social Media Today #SMTPowerTalk Personas & Personality in Social Media (http://goo.gl/6urQJk) David Amerland, Lee Smallwood and Ammon Johns in fine form with a packed half hour discussing the importance of personality in social media marketing. I needn’t add any more as NOD3x provides one of the most comprehensive #timestamp posts I’ve ever seen here (http://goo.gl/xRh4DT)
Those 4 Girls followed on with Is Social Media Emotionally Bankrupting Us? (http://goo.gl/pQlnHJ) takes a look at taking responsibility in light of the recent revelations of Facebook’s emotional manipulation experiments. Lany Sullivan, Susan Finch, Mani Saint-Victor, Laurie Laizure, Iva Ignjatovic and David Amerland explore the topic fully looking at the need for transparency, trust, self awareness, self worth, education and acceptable norms. A really useful grounding in the subject.
Zara Altair and Alexandra Riecke-Gonzales keep the common sense flowing in the Midweek Zap - Communicate! (http://goo.gl/nm6ZAS). Alex certainly lives and breathes communication and this 30 minute show is a great overview of the topic. It’s essential to have this kind of understanding whether marketing your business or just hanging around Social Media for fun.
Move the House
Joey Giangola gets my vote again in Fearlessly Questioning Growing Up with Chris Brogan (http://goo.gl/9sLJXc). It’s always a pleasure to listen to Chris Brogan and in this he talks about life, health and success. The segment that got me was relating to people reading book after book without putting anything into action. As Chris states go and do something! We need better maps, missions and games! Thanks for this Joey and Chris.
Gina Fiedel gives us some excellent food for thought (as always) in Your Brand Consistency & Basic Core Values Go Hand And Hand (http://goo.gl/Cd5v3W) Sub titled What makes you who you are? Or even who you think you are or who you hope to be? this piece will have you thinking about how you manage your brand online. Gina takes inspiration from a precariously balanced tower of stones outlining how we need to balance every facet of ourselves in a similar way to present our core values in consistent way. Gina always weaves a great story with a great message. “If we don’t have the courage to look at our inner ballast, the courage to stay and be present with what’s real inside the container of our brand then we can’t extend it out to the public arena.” It’s classic lines like this that keep me coming back for more.
The right side of image use
Stephan Hovnanian and Susan Finch touch on the legal issues around image use in the last If I had a nickel series Images & Graphics Keeping you out of trouble (http://goo.gl/IEG9tF) Sara Hawkins takes us through the ins and outs of copyright, derivative works, fair use and all the pitfalls of which you need to be aware. Lots of good stuff about etiquette and good manners, model release issues, expectations of privacy and stock photography. Always good to keep up to date with this as it’s all too easy to just grab an image, post it somewhere and leave yourself open to all sorts of grief. I hope Susan and Stephan bring this series back next summer.
Thinkers corner
Bruce Marko gives us Popularity and the Death of Content (http://goo.gl/ZE2sym) and sets us thinking about how being on Google’s Suggested User List (SUL) and the resultant growth in followers may cause some content creators to take their foot off the gas. He calls out those who turn their backs on their audience because of this celebrity. That said there are some fine examples of popular Plussers who do still make the effort to produce useful content and engage with their audience. Always something of which to be aware should your followers suddenly skyrocket.
And finally…
Prolific is a word that comes readily to mind when considering blogging master Mike Allton. In this post he shows how to Take your Blogging to the Next Level (http://goo.gl/rAsyDf). No less than 23 resources grouped under the headings:
