I discovered you can set up Showcase for an event before the hangout itself. When you create the trailer Showcase automatically adds links to guests or your own business.
But...
if your show is interview format you can then turn off Showcase before your start to run the regular HOA. Just a quick way for a potential audience to check out your panel guests before a interview format HOA.

New Google Plus Showcase Hangouts: How to Market With Them

Showcase allows anyone to place links in a sidebar that viewers can click on to take them to your products, web resources, your Google+ home, and other places.
