Email Marketing Pro Tip: Create a Guest Blog Email Newsletter
Chances are good that you have an email list that notifies your subscribers of new blog posts (if not, let's talk).
Chances are also good that part of your content strategy includes guest blogging, whether it be on social platforms like Google+ and LinkedIn, on others' blogs, or as a contributor on media sites like Forbes, etc.
Do your subscribers get an email for new guest blog posts?
I'll answer that: Of course not, because there is no way of telling them through your existing system that probably uses your blog's RSS feed to create the emails to your blog subscribers.
Side note: the lightbulb should go off when I said RSS feed, but again, if not, let's talk if you do a lot of guest blogging.
My suggestion: a monthly round-up of guest posts
Once a month, send an email to your blog subscriber list with the links of any guest post you've written. When I do this (not often enough b/c I don't write much, but it's still in my strategy plan), I get emails back from people who say things like, "I didn't realize you were publishing on LinkedIn," or "Thanks for introducing me to that new site!" And of course, more traffic to my guest blogs.
As you can see, emails like this are also a great opportunity to encourage replies and one-on-one conversation with your subscribers as you introduce them to new sources of information. Take advantage of that, maybe even segment off the click data to see where you should publish your next guest blog post ;)
