How to Create a New Project in NOD3x
0:01 Introduction
Explanation of new create project interface.
0:52 Project Name
This is a unique name for your own use, and should be descriptive.
1:16 Keywords & Hashtags to track ✔
These are the words, phrases and hashtags you want NOD3x to collect posts on.
1:35 All of these words (hint: hit enter after adding each word)
Tells NOD3x you want to collect posts containing all of the words listed. These words don't necessarily have to appear side by side, but can be anywhere in the post.
2:32 Just this phrase
Tells NOD3x you only want to collect posts containing an exact phrase, and ignore all others.
3:00 Any of these words
If any of the words in this section appear in a post, that post will be collected. It's like saying, collect posts containing 'this word' or 'this word' or 'this word'.
4:08 Including these hashtags
Using hashtags allows us to track posts about a topic, regardless of the words people are using in the posts.
5:06 Language settings
Lee Smallwood often leaves this setting to collect all languages, and then later filters down by language later as needed.
5:30 Specifying users to collect posts from
Adding profile urls here tells NOD3x to only collect posts from these specific users, which also match the other criteria (keywords/hashtags) entered already. Pro tip Use this to track posts from key influencers and engagers, which will help you focus in on a topic by cutting out a lot of noise.
7:27 Excluding content
Here you can specify words, phrases and or hashtags to exclude from your projects. This can help you cut down on spammy content in your projects, and clean up your data.
8:30 Location, Gender & Dates
If you specify a location, and a person hasn't set their location, you will miss out on their posts even if they are relevant to your project. The same applies to gender. Both of these settings will reduce the overall amount of information collected. note the date range is related to Facebook, because FB allows us to look back in time to some extent.
9:35 Opinion and Sentiment
Here you can specify the sentiments you want to track: either all, positive, negative or neutral. These can be filtered by when viewing your project as well. This can be helpful for reputation management, say by collecting only negative posts. Or for identifying brand advocates, by viewing all the positive posts.
10:32 Sources
Premium plans give you access to networks like:
- Facebook
- Twitter
- LinkedIn
- Instagram
- 250k News/Blog feeds
The free G+ plans give you access to G+ and YouTube data.
