Be Your Village Town Crier
What do you do to support your village?
Your village is all of the people in all of your circles. If you have been on Google+ for a while those people can range in the hundreds, if not thousands.
Before there were social networks, blogs, email, computers, or newspapers, every village and town had a crier. His job was to wander the streets proclaiming the news. Notices, lost and found, neighbourhood warnings. The crier rang a bell as he wandered, to get people to notice.
Lucy Moore has fine linen yards for sale.
A cut purse is working by the river.
Thursday evening the Live Free! meeting at The Corner Bar at 8 o’clock. Coffee and Conversation.
Jim Moore’s dog is lost. A fine brown girl with a white spot over her left eye.
The new salt tax begins Monday.
Often the crier would stop in town squares, under a certain tree, or at a certain corner so that people could gather and listen to all of the notices.
