Voice seems to baffle many people. Just be yourself, and be consistent.
Want to have a certain panache? Not clear about your voice. Think about the people your follow. How do they "speak."

Your web voice is your signal to your audience.
When you think about your voice think about telling a friend what your thoughts are. How would you tell a friend about Google Analytics? or talking on twitter? Or, being on Google+?
What you have to talk about (content) and how you say it (voice) make up your online identity.
Newcomers often worry that they don't have a voice. Just keep thinking that you are talking to a friend. The more you do, the more your voice is heard, and gets replies, and is shared.

  1. Thank you for including me in that list, Zara Altair. And David Amerland, I really like the babushka doll image; it lends a whole new urgency to Steve Martin's advice: "let's get small."

Being true to the real, (tiny) you inside takes a lot of courage and like a lot of these things is paradoxical. The tiniest becomes the most powerful.

  3. Gideon Rosenblatt beautifully quantified and yes, we need to let go of the 'largeness' of our ego and simply be the small, ineffectual beings we are when alone.
