GPU can be 20x more efficiency than CPU ... but for me... the top notch regards AI comes from IBM research in both software an hardware ( the chip TrueNorth http://www.research.ibm.com/articles/brain-chip.shtml ) rocks .... Ps the whole point about be energy efficiency is that if you built a datacenter based on that new architecture, then you can sell your product for unbeaten price. We know that China government already subsidiary companies.. And that's why almost all bitcoin farms with old chip still running there. Bitcoin mining is a such thing useful to measure electric prices across the globe reminds me the bigMc index :-)
