The Inspiration Flash

The Inspiration Flash
This evening I spent some time going through suggestions from editor Rob Cote (highly recommend) on the manuscript for The Peach Widow. http://geni.us/peachwidow
I spent time thinking about rewording sentences, reorganizing paragraphs, and the tiny details of word use. Would an uneducated slave use a latinate word? No. Does a wild outlaw speak in gerunds? No.
Right in the middle of all that thinking, I had a flash of dialogue for the current story in progress, The Roman Heir.
“My father told me there are two kinds of politicians. The ones who seek the truth and the ones who hide it.
Philo said, “My father said: secrets flow out of the posticum the way goods come in.” (see edited version below )
I'm always amazed when those flashes arrive seemingly out of thin air. It feels miraculous.

Vicki Haas Hahaha. I try to minimize language impediments in stories. I may know the parts of a Roman house in Latin, readers won't necessarily know that. :)
